1. What are SÆR candles made from?

Our candles are made from 100% soy wax, ensuring a clean and eco-friendly burn. Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource, making it a healthier and more sustainable choice compared to paraffin wax. We also use high-quality fragrance oils and wood wicks ensure a safe, long-lasting burn.

Our Beeswax candles are made from local bees in Cheshire, UK. 

2. How should I care for my SÆR candle?

To get the most out of your candle, follow these simple care instructions:

• Trim the wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. This prevents excessive flame size, smoking, and sooting.
• First burn: Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface on the first burn to prevent tunneling.
• Burn time: Limit each burn to 2-3 hours to avoid overheating the tin or uneven melting.
• Storage: Store your candle in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, to preserve the scent and quality.

3. Why is the first burn important?

The first burn is critical for ensuring that your candle lasts as long as possible. For the best results, allow the candle to burn for 1-2 hours on the first use, or until the wax has melted evenly to the edges of the container. This prevents tunnelling and helps maintain an even burn throughout the candle’s life.

4. How long do SÆR candles last?

Burn time varies depending on the size of the candle and how well it’s maintained. On average:

• 4 oz candles: Burn for approximately 20 - 26 hours.
• 8 oz candles: Burn for approximately 40-46 hours.
• 16 oz candles: Burn for approximately 80-100 hours.

Following proper burning instructions can help maximise your candle’s lifespan.

5. Are SÆR candles safe for pets and children?

Yes! Our candles are made from 100% soy wax, which is non-toxic, and we use natural fragrance oils. However, it’s important to never leave a burning candle unattended and to keep candles out of reach of pets and children. Always extinguish the flame when leaving the room or going to sleep. 

We don't use essential oils as we like to be pet friendly.

Be mindful of anyones allergies or sensitivity to scents.

6. Do your candles contain any harmful chemicals?

No, SÆR candles are free from harmful chemicals. We use high-quality soy wax and natural fragrances that are safe for you and the environment. Our candles are also phthalate-free and, paraben-free.

Beeswax candles are 100% pure beeswax, unrefined, unbleached, uncoloured and unprocessed - straight from the hive. 

7. How do I fix tunnelling in my candle?

Tunnelling occurs when a candle burns down the center without melting all the way to the edges. To fix this:

1. Wrap the candle in aluminum foil, leaving an opening at the top.
2. Light the candle and let it burn for 2-3 hours.
3. The foil helps to reflect heat evenly, melting the wax around the edges. Heating the tins also helps with this - be sure to wear protective gloves from the heat.

Prevent tunnelling by allowing the candle to melt to the edges on the first burn.

8. Why does my candle wick mushroom?

Mushrooming happens when carbon builds up on the wick, causing a large, black "mushroom" shape to form. This is common in natural wax candles and can be prevented by trimming the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn.

9. Why isn’t my candle burning evenly?

If your candle isn't burning evenly, it could be due to improper wick trimming or the candle not burning long enough to melt the wax pool fully. Always allow your candle to burn long enough so that the surface melts evenly. Trim the wick regularly to ensure an even, steady burn.

10. Can I reuse the candle tins?

Absolutely! Once your candle has burned down, you can clean the tin and repurpose it. Here’s how:

• Place the tin in the freezer for a few hours to harden the remaining wax - or wait for it to solidify. 
• Use a butter knife to gently pop out the wax.
• Clean the tin with warm, soapy water.

You can use the tin for storage, plant pots, or decorative pieces around your home!
